About Me

music as a therapeutic tool for all ages

Music is one of the most soothing things for babies and young children. Even the music that you think would cause a little one to become stressed out can actually pull the little one out of a temper tantrum. I created this blog after taking some time to learn about different uses for music. You will find all sorts of information about how music can be used as a therapeutic tool for people of all ages. It is my hope that you can find a way to utilize music to better your life, your emotional state or the way your children react to certain situations.

Why Getting a Private Music Tutor Is the Best Way to Help Your Kids Learn an Instrument

Although many schools offer music classes to help teach children instruments of all kinds, there are several downsides to this way of introducing music to a child. First of all, they likely have constrictions on how many of each instrument can be played, so if your child wants to play one of the more popular ones they can easily be left out. It is also a very generalized class that, even when split up into sections of the band (such as brass, woodwind, strings, etc) will struggle to show your kid the attention they want or need to help flourish. That is why private music lessons are always a good idea if your child really wants to learn an instrument.

As Regular Or As Infrequent As You Like

The best thing about going to private music lessons is that you control how frequent they are. If your child has a major performance coming up that they need to practice more regularly for, then you can increase the number of lessons they go to. On the other hand, if it is the summer break or a time when they have a lot of other commitments on you might want to scale back your practice sessions. While that is hard to do in a school band, at home in your own time with private lessons it is as simple as making a phone call.

Faster Progression

While school bands are great entryways into music, they don't allow children to go as fast as they have the ability to. A school band has to cater to everyone, which means they generally progress as fast as the slowest learner in the band. While that makes for a more harmonious band and is the only way these bands could possibly be run, it doesn't help you if your child has obvious talent that is being constrained. Private music lessons allow them another outlet to refine their skills.

Open Their Eyes To What Music Can Be

The music often taught in schools is generally quite popular and easy to play pieces that everyone enjoys but that won't necessarily challenge a lot of children. That makes for great concerts, but doesn't really prepare the kids for what the future will look like for them. If you can tell your child really enjoys music and wants to take it up for the foreseeable future it is important to let them see just how serious it can be taken and allow them to get involved in harder compositions from an earlier age to really see if they want to pursue it.

Consider enrolling your child in private music lessons near you today.
